Our most recent news is that we are now under new management and ready to paint the sky with brightly colored nylon!

NORTHEAST CANOPY PILOTING AND SWOOP CLUB AT SUSSEX

On June 6^th, we had our second scheduled day of training. The weather did not want to cooperate with us until later that day, but we finally had our new pilot checked out and sufficient ceilings to get some loads up at 2 pm.  We had 9 pilots jumping till sunset and everyone got to make 4 or 5 jumps. While we were waiting for the clouds to clear, those who had to check in at the office were able to bring their laptops and plug into the wi-fi at the dz!!!  Sussex provided everything we needed to make a Friday escape to swoop  possible.

The 200’ course was mowed to perfection so we could see the course from 5K at exit altitude which makes setting up for the gates much easier. We realized (setting up downwinders all day)  that we were going to have to extend the course another 100’ and this will be accomplished by the next training day.   Additionally we are in the planning stages of getting a speed (carving) course set up as well. This will be done to PST/FAI regulations.

Our next training day is June 20^th and will be scheduled for every other Friday as the season progresses.  If you are interested in joining us (no membership fee!!!) email me, SwooperchickPia at pia_henzi@yahoo.com, get on my email listing to get updates on schedules and confirmation the night before that we are on for the next day.  Remember, everyone is welcome – we are not just a swoop club but a training ground for anyone looking to improve their canopy skills. We have PST Pro card holders debriefing and coaching anyone who is looking to improve anything having to do with their canopy ride.
